What is Get Ethical?

Getethical.com was originally conceived and set up by Red Pepper and The Big Issue magazines in 2001 to promote and advance ethical consumerism and support social business and social enterprises in the UK.

The website was developed and continually enhanced for a number of years, becoming the leading site showcasing ethical products in the UK. Eventually the original team decided that it was time to move on. New owners and management were brought in at the start of 2007 with a major relaunch occurring at the beginning of 2008.

In August 2008 Get Ethical partnered with Ethical Junction, the UK’s ethical business network. Both companies, their members and suppliers are committed to operating according to a core set of values including taking active care for the environment, having responsible, fair and sustainable trading practices and the equality of opportunity and promotion of diversity.

Get Ethical does not hold any of its own products, all the products you see on the site are from the independent suppliers – you can find see a full list of our current suppliers here.

Our mission is to provide a trustworthy and safe market place for conscious consumers, acting as a one-stop shop for information and products. More than this, we want to make a difference for you, your family and the world.

Get Ethical is a “Not Just For Profit” organisation. While we need to trade profitably to pay wages and develop the business, we firmly believe profit should not be the only motivation and are committed to using our profits to put something back in to the world.
