Description
Wattle and daub has been used ever since man erected the first hut in which to shelter. He would have used the wattle (sticks) to create the main structure and then filled in between with daub (clay or earth) to create a wind and waterproof shelter which also kept the heat in.
Thousands of buildings which have used this method can still be found throughout the United Kingdom. Maybe because of its simplicity, wattle and daub has sometimes been thought to have been an inferior building material, but it can last for five hundred years or more in many situations.
This book answers many questions you may have on the subject, and is accompanied by close up photographs of many different joints, ceilings and studdings that have been used within these structures. There are also several coloured photographs of the many buildings that can still be seen today.
